What is a sub-rental?
Sub-rentals are very common in the film and photo world. When a rental warehouse doesn't have an item, they don't want to turn down the client, so they sub-rent it from a competitor nearby.
What happens if the guest damages or steals the equipment?
When you sub-rent an item on ShareGrid you will be ultimately liable for that item, unless you require coverage from the renter. ShareGrid will give Peerspace hosts $1,000 worth of damage and theft coverage for free. Most add-on item replacement values will be under $1,000, therefore you will be covered, but if you plan to rent a higher value item, you will have to purchase additional coverage on ShareGrid or upload your own coverage to ShareGrid for verification.
How can I earn a profit on a sub-rented add-on?
ShareGrid rental items are usually 30-50% lower in price than traditional rental houses since most items are owned by individuals with no business overhead. Therefore, with such a good sub-rental price and the additional partnership discount you will be able to charge the guest more for the convenience you are delivering.
What if an ShareGrid item I added as an Add-on is not currently available?
Guests on Peerspace typically send rental requests days prior to the start of their bookings, therefore you will have ample time to inform them that a certain add-on item is unfortunately not available.
